You took the laughing sun along

The day you went away:

And, tho I hide my tears in song

The skies are always gray.

You took a portion of my heart

And left an awful nick

Now, like a clock that lacks a part,

The dammed thing just won't tick.

So hurry back, and please release

The sun, for brighter weather.

And don't forget the missing pieces

That holds my heart together
